Simple & Modern Matcha
While we love slowing down and making our matcha using traditional Japanese matcha tools -- somedays we want to make our matcha quick and simple. This is our Simple & Modern Matcha Method.
In this method, we will be mixing our matcha with only water. Because of this, we strongly recommend using a ceremonial matcha where the richness and full flavors can be enjoyed. While it is possible to use a lower grade matcha, you may find bitterness in your cup when doing so. That is why we like to use our Master's Supreme Ceremonial Matcha for this recipe. It is rich, delicious and full of flavor!
- electric stirring stick/frother
- fine mesh tea sieve
- a mug or tumbler
- hot water
- Master's Supreme Ceremonial Matcha
Step 1: Fill your mug 60% full with cold water (~1 cup). Be careful not to overfill, otherwise the drink can overflow when mixing in Step 5.
Step 2: Place your mug in the microwave for 90 seconds. Once the water is done heating, remove from the microwave.
Step 3: Measure out 1/2 - 1 teaspoon (1-2 grams) of Master's Supreme Ceremonial Matcha.
Step 4: While holding the tea sieve over your mug, sift the matcha powder through the mesh in order to break up any potential clumps of powder.
Step 5: Carefully, mix your matcha using the electric stirring stick/frother for 10 - 15 seconds.
You can adjust the amount of water and matcha to adjust the flavor accordingly.
